Primary sources receive priority. External trackers, media reports, practitioner commentary, and AI outputs may identify leads but do not replace primary sources for canonical fields.
How to submit a correction
Email sgoodwin@smu.edu with the subject line “SMU CGI — Source-backed correction.” The intake form below documents the fields needed; until the web form ships, please include the same information in the email body.

Adjudication workflow
- Receive correction.
- Validate the submitted URL.
- Determine source type.
- Compare with the canonical field.
- Editor adjudicates.
- If adopted, update data / copy / source manifest.
- Recompute affected outputs.
- Publish a changelog entry if material.
- Notify the submitter.
When we publish a changelog entry
A public changelog entry is published whenever a correction affects firm inclusion, row class, cohort flag, status, event date, vote tally, market cap, primary source, legal holding, homepage metric, or chart value.
Common rejection reasons
- Rejected — submitted source does not support the proposed value.
- Rejected — submitted source is secondary commentary only.
- Rejected — outside current methodology scope.
- Deferred — primary source needed.
