2. No attorney-client relationship
Use of the site does not create an attorney-client, advisor-client, fiduciary, or consulting relationship with SMU, SMU CGI, any author, or any contributor.
3. Source status
SMU CGI labels sources by status. Primary-source-verified items, secondary commentary, external-tracker leads, issuer allegations, court holdings, staff statements, and source-pending items should not be treated as equivalent.
4. Corrections
SMU CGI welcomes source-backed corrections. Corrections are reviewed before adoption. Aggregators, news articles, law-firm alerts, and commentary may identify leads but do not replace primary sources for canonical fields. See the Correction & Source Issue Workflow.
5. No warranty
SMU CGI works to maintain accurate and source-linked materials, but information may change or contain errors. Users should verify primary sources before relying on any legal, business, or research conclusion.
6. Data use and attribution
Users may use public data with appropriate attribution, subject to the applicable data license and any source-specific restrictions. Use of SMU names, logos, or marks does not imply endorsement.
7. Prohibited uses
Do not misuse the site, interfere with site operation, attempt unauthorized access, bypass rate limits, submit malicious code, or misrepresent SMU CGI data as legal advice or endorsement.
8. API and exports
API access and expanded exports may be rate-limited, revoked for misuse, and subject to versioned-data and attribution requirements. See the Export & Download Rules.
9. Third-party sources
The site links to third-party sources such as SEC EDGAR, court records, statutes, law-review repositories, news sources, and external trackers. SMU CGI does not control third-party sites or their terms.
10. Changes
Terms may be updated as the research platform evolves. Material changes are reflected in the public changelog and on this page.
